Setup guide
How to add it to your phone calendar
It takes about a minute. Pick the tab that matches your device, follow the steps, and the schedule keeps updating itself without you reinstalling anything.
Steps
On Android a calendar subscription has to go through your Google account first, and only then syncs down to the calendar app. The Android Google Calendar app has no "add by link" menu at all, so the route has to detour through the browser.
- 1
Tap the subscribe button
Your browser opens a Google Calendar page with an add-calendar confirmation.
- 2
Sign in with the Google account your phone uses
This matters. Sign in with a different account and the calendar lands in that account instead, so it never shows up in your phone's calendar app.
- 3
Tap Add in the confirmation box
Google shows the calendar name first. Once you approve it, the calendar is registered on your account.
- 4
Open the Google Calendar app and switch the calendar on
Tap the three-line menu at the top left, go to Settings, find the new calendar in the list, then turn on Sync and tick its visibility box. New subscriptions often arrive switched off, and this is the number one reason the schedule looks empty even though the calendar was added successfully.
- 5
Wait for the sync
Usually a few minutes. If nothing shows up, pull down to refresh, or close and reopen the app.
If tapping the button does nothing
That means your browser opened the mobile version of Google Calendar, which cannot handle add-by-link. Use the manual route below.
- Tap Copy link in the box above.
- Open calendar.google.com in your phone browser.
- Open the browser menu (three dots), tick Desktop site, and wait for the page to reload.
- In the left column find Other calendars, tap the +, then choose From URL.
- Paste the link, then tap Add calendar.
- Go back to the Google Calendar app and switch the calendar on as in step 4 above.
Using Samsung Calendar or another built-in calendar app?
Install it through your Google account exactly as above. Samsung Calendar and almost every Android calendar app pull from the connected Google account, so the fixtures show up there too. You only need to make sure the new calendar is ticked under Calendars to display.
No Google account at all?
You can still download the .ics file and import it into your calendar app. Bear in mind that a downloaded file is a one-off snapshot. It does not change when a fixture is moved, so subscribing through a Google account is still the better option.
Still not working?
Tapping the button from Instagram, X or Facebook does nothing
Links from social media open in the app's built-in browser rather than Safari or Chrome, and that browser cannot pass the link on to your calendar app. Open the three-dot or share menu in the corner of the screen, choose Open in Safari or Open in browser, then tap the subscribe button again from there.
It was added but no matches show up
Almost always because the calendar has not been switched on in the app. In Google Calendar open the three-line menu → Settings → pick the calendar name → turn on Sync. On iPhone open the Calendar app → tap Calendars at the bottom → tick the new calendar.
The kickoff times look wrong
Times are stored in UTC in the calendar file and converted by your phone to its local timezone. If they are off, your phone's timezone is usually not set automatically. Check date and time settings and turn automatic on.
A fixture moved, do I need to reinstall?
No. This is a subscription, not a one-off download. Every schedule change flows into your calendar when the app refreshes, which can take up to a day depending on your device settings.
What is the difference between subscribing and downloading the .ics?
Subscribing creates a feed that keeps updating. Downloading the .ics only copies the schedule as it stands right now, so a fixture that later moves will not change in the file you already downloaded.
How do I unsubscribe?
In Google Calendar open Settings, pick the calendar, then Unsubscribe. On iPhone open the Calendar app, tap Calendars at the bottom, tap the info icon next to the calendar, then Delete Calendar.
Is there a fee?
It is completely free, with no subscription cost and no account to register on this site.
